Of the multitude of historic sites in England, Wales, and Scotland, Tintagel Castle, Glastonbury Abbey, and Cadbury Castle have come to be intimately associated with King Arthur. Each year, his legendary birthplace, burial site, and fortress lure visitors by the thousands. Ironically, at least two of the sites-Tintagel and Glastonbury-may never have actually been associated with the historical Arthur. Still, the pilgrims who journey to these sites still claim to be able to sense their magic.
