A Sip Through Time includes scores of recipes for beer, wine, and cider, ale, mead, and perry, and many obscure drinks such as metheglin, hypocras, and hydromel. Recipes are grouped by type (e.g., Ales and Beers), and ordered from earliest to most recent. The book is an ample, 335-page softback volume, and is illustrated with nearly 100 b&w drawings, many of them from medieval woodcuts or texts. This book is also well-indexed, and includes a glossary of terms without which many of the recipes would be incomprehensible to the layman and an appendix of herbs and fruits.
