Patrick Ball
Celestial Harmonies, PO Box 30122, Tucson, AZ 85751

On this instrumental CD, Ball enthralls us with traditional Irish songs, played on a reproduction Celtic wire-strung harp. Tim Britton joins in on the tin whistle and Uillean pipes (an Irish bagpipe), along with Kevin Karr on fiddle on such classics as "Brian Boru's March" and "L'herititere de Keroulez" (The Pretty Maid Milking Her Cow), a traditional Breton song recorded by such people as Judy Garland and the Clancy Brothers. Ball also includes two traditional Scottish tunes. "Farewell to the Land of Mist," the song which wraps up this album, is a poignant piece which will have any listener longing for the moors of Scotland. The only drawback to this album is that Ball, known for his poignant storytelling, does not show off his bardic skills on this album.
