A Following Wind
Glenn Morgan
The hammered dulcimer reigns supreme on this album, instantly assaulting
the listener with a quick tempo dulcimer accented by guest performances
which all somehow manage to keep up Glenn Morgan's fantastic pace.
The dominant use of the hammered dulcimer, the speed in which it is played,
and the lack of rhythmic variance caused by the pace, makes this CD mesmeric
and somewhat hard to follow. However, "Simon's Breton Tune For A
Friday Afternoon" and "Abbot's Bromley Horn Dance" stand
out because they are the only songs not played on the dulcimer and therefore
are more subdued than the other songs on this album.
This variance alone draws attention back into the music. Yet despite
the speed of the playing, Following Wind is good listening, providing
fury to already furious Celtic music. Following Wind (Look for Morgan
at many California Renaissance Faires!)
